Walkthrough Media Video Support

A Walkthrough Media video tour, otherwise known as a Walkthrough Movie, is an industry standard video format that does not need any special software to be viewed. It can be played in any web browser and any video player and can be uploaded to any video sharing service such as YouTube and Vimeo.

The video is delivered using Dropbox, one of the largest file sharing companies in the world. You do not need a Dropbox account to access the video. We maintain a Pro level account that lets us share videos with anyone who has access to the internet.

Once you have accessed your video (see instructions below for help if you are unfamiliar with opening .zip files) there are a number of ways to use the video. Here are a few:

1. YouTube. This is a great way to share the video to Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media services. Simply log into your YouTube account (if you don't have one they are super easy to create and are free) and share the video as soon as it is uploaded.

You can also use the link that is created by YouTube to share the video on the MLS.

2. Realtor.com. To share the video on Realtor.com simply upload the video to your Realtor.com account just like you do when uploading it to YouTube.

3. MLS. Upload the video to YouTube (see 1. YouTube) and copy and paste the link that YouTube creates into the Virtual Tour window in your MLS listing page.

4. Company or Personal website. Depending on how the system is set up, you can usually use YouTube to create a link that can be ysed on your compnay website, and for personal websites you can embed the video into a page using YouTube.

If you do not have a YouTube account, and do not want to set one up, we can upload the video to our YouTube account and simply send you a link. This option does not give you any control over how the video appears on YouTube and you cannot add a property description or other information to the video page.

We also provide a personalized video viewer and a multimedia listing page with your photo, contact information and other cool assets you may need to add such as a map, listing info and social media sharing functionality.

To get your video click on the link in the email we sent. You can also copy and paste the link into your web browser.

Your video should start downloading automatically from Dropbox, an industry leader in secure file sharing solutions.

You do not need a Dropbox account to access the video. We maintain a paid Pro account that allows use to share the video with anyone who has access to the internet.

If you get an error message the video may still be in the process of uploading to Dropbox. Try again in a few minutes. If you still get an error after ten minutes contact us so we can troubleshoot the problem.

Do not attempt to download the video to your phone or iPad, the file is compressed and will not open. Use a laptop or desktop computer.

To increase download speed the video is compressed into a folder called a zip file, carrying the extension .zip.

You do not need to download, install or purchase special software to open the zip file. Microsoft has included built-in .zip support in versions of Microsoft Windows since 1998 and Apple has included built-in .zip support in Mac OS X 10.3 and later. Most free operating systems have built in support for .zip in similar manners to Windows and Mac OS X.

To access your video on a Windows PC follow these instructions.

Please note that even though you may be able to see the video in the folder after it has been downloaded to your computer you will NOT be able to do anything with it UNTIL it has been extracted from the folder.

1. Click on the link to download the folder then locate the folder you downloaded.

2. Right-click the folder and select the Extract All option from the menu that appears.

3. Paste or Save the video to a new location.

4. You can now use your video.

If you are using a Mac all you need to do is click on the link to download the folder. As soon as the file has completely downloaded open the folder and use your video.
